CUSD Extension Programs

CUSD: Home School - Curriculum
Curriculum
The Campbell Union School District home school program uses a combination of state adopted text books, supplemental literature and online curriculum.

It is strongly recommended that students in the home school program have regular daily access to a computer with an online connection. Our supplemental curriculum is delivered through the use of the Compass Learning Odyssey K-8 Program which allows you access to your child’s current grade level as well those above or below if needed. Loaner computers may be available and lab time in the classroom can be arranged for those students without access to a computer.

Compass Learning
Compass Learning Odyssey provides innovative and personalized technology-delivered academic activities designed to accelerate learning in the area of reading, writing and mathematics. All components of the program are aligned to state standards and are based on rigorous scientific research. Students will log on daily to complete the teacher assigned tasks with the support of the parent/learning coach at home. Regular assessment tests are built into the program to ensure your child is meeting standards. The content is engaging and exciting for students of all ages. Parents and teacher can easily use the program to check student progress, time spent online and assignment completion. A parent training will be offered to new parents entering the program. User names and passwords will be supplied to students upon successful completion of enrollment in CUSD.

District Adopted Textbooks
Quality and Currency of Textbooks and Other Instructional Materials.

District Curriculum committees select the majority of textbooks and other instructional materials with representatives from every school and grade level. Purchase of textbooks follows the State adoption cycle. All textbooks series are recommended by the State and are purchased with State Instructional Materials money. Every student has a current textbook in the basic subject areas and every classroom has calculators, dictionaries, maps/globes, and math manipulatives.
